How do I sharpen my hair shears?
You know how every stunt video says, “Do not do this at home” in small print? Yep, that applies to your scissors too. If you sharpen your scissors at home or with an unauthorized sharpener, you risk invalidating the manufacturer warranty. Most brands require your scissors to be sharpened by the factory or with an authorized sharpener to keep the manufacturer warranty valid. If your scissors are not quite making the cut, look for your brand below for instructions on getting them sharpened. Even if we don’t sell your brand, we wanted to include it in this list to help you out!
BMAC Shears
BMAC has service centers in the USA and Canada. Sharpening in any other location will void your warranty. Here are some simple instructions to get your scissors working well again:
- Contact BMAC at info@bmac.pro or speak to customer service at 1-855-279-5500 (USA) / 1-800-641-7936 (CANADA) to get an address for where to mail your scissors.
- Pack your scissors in their original case or put a rubber band around the tips and wrap them in bubble wrap. Put them in a padded envelope.
- Send your packaged scissors to the BMAC authorized service center address given by BMAC.
- A BMAC care representative will be in contact once your shears have been cared for to find out the best way to return them to you.

Fuel Hair Scissors
- If you sharpen your scissors anywhere besides Fuel, you run the risk of incurring additional charges or voiding your warranty.

- After you purchase your service package, you will receive a packing envelope in 3-5 days with mailing and packing instructions.
- It will take approximately 3 weeks from mailing your shears in to receive them back, at which time a signature will be required to receive your scissors back at your salon.

Kasho Scissors
- Your scissors should be sharpened every 1-2 years by a Kasho technician.
- Choose one of Kasho’s three options for servicing: standard, ballbearing service, or Ceramic series service. You can find descriptions of each of these services and pay for them here: kashoscissors.co.uk/servicing-your-kasho-scissors
- Print your email receipt/invoice and pack it with your scissors. If you do not send the receipt/invoice, your scissors cannot be serviced. To pack, wrap your scissors in heavy cardboard and cushioning material and place in a padded envelope.
- Be sure that your name and return address are clearly visible on the outside of your package. Use a “signed for” postal service to make sure your package is received, and that it travels safely.

- Mizutani sharpens your scissors at their factory to ensure the best care possible for your scissors.
- The cost is $30 for sharpening and an additional $10 for shipping and handling per pair.
